Lyrics for Babes in Toyland

Welcome to Mother Goose Village

Oh, Ev'ryone in town,
Has come and gathered round,
To celebrate this special day.
Two orphan twins are on the way
let's hope they're safe and sound.

As soon as they appear,
let's give a rousing cheer,
To let them know they're not alone,
to make them feel like they're at home,
And there's no need to fear.

Click clack, stand back
let's make way for the train.
(Mother) do you see them?
(Mary) There they are!
It's Alan and it's Jane!

(all cheer)
Welcome to Mother Goose Village
We're glad you've come to stay.
You've traveled a long way,
and now we'd like to say.

We're glad you've come to our village,
As happy as can be.
Now you're no longer orphans,
But a part of our family.

In the Workshop
Everyone
In the workshop, Toymakers workshop,
We make Christmas gifts for all the little girls and boys.
We paint trollies, decorate the dollies,
And bring joy to everybody with our lovely toys.
There are wagons, even painted dragons,
Christmas toys that make lots of noise.
We've got high chairs, cuddly cute stuffed bears,
So that children everywhere can share our joys.
Toymaker
Girls and boys will get toys on that joyous Christmas day.
Old Kris Kringle soon will come to mingle,
And select the toys he likes the best to take away.
He'll pick a few, only the best will do.
Then he'll pack them in his bag and on his magic sleigh.
Everyone
Then at daybreak all the toys he will take,
To the children everywhere and say.
Merry, Merry Christmas, Jolly, Holly Christmas!
Here's to love and joy to you this Christmas day!

Bye-Bye, Tom Tom
Gonzorgo and Rodrigo:
We used to be hungry and destitute.
We needed employment to earn some loot.
You gave us the bed we could not afford,
When we swore to push Tom Tom overboard!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Our laughter seems rash.
You should have been there when he went splash!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Our joy may seem rank.
Poor little Tom walked off the plank.
Gonzorgo!
Rodrigo!
We've done our best,
To drown Mary's boy-friend at your request.
We gave you our word that we'd do the deed.
Now your underhanded plan will succeed.
Bye! Bye! Bye! Bye! Mary's fiance'.
He really had a rotten day.
Bye! Bye! Bye! Bye! Tom is no more.
He's sitting on the ocean floor!

We kidnapped the lad!
We kicked the young cad!
We dragged him away!
To our boat in the bay!
We sailed out to sea!
Just you, him and me!

Together: We drowned the young Tom Tom just as we were told.

Barnaby(spoken): Just what are you trying to tell me?

Together: WE WANT OUR GOLD!

Toyland
Mother Goose:
When you've grown up my dears,
And are as old as I.
You'll often ponder on the years
That roll so swiftly by, my dears,
That roll so swiftly by.
And of the many lands,
you will have journeyed through,
You'll oft recall the best of all
the land your childhood knew.
Your childhood knew.

Toyland, Toyland, dear little girl and boy-land,
While you dwell within it, you are ever happy then.
Childhood's joy-land, mystical, merry Toyland.
Once you pass it's boarders, you can ever return again.

Go to Sleep
Curly Locks: See that shadow sway?
Mary: That is nothing, dear.
Curly Locks: Please don't go away.
Mary: I am staying here.
Curly Locks: See the creepies crawl.
Mary: No that cannot be.
Curly Locks: See the ogre tall,
Mary: It's a cypress tree.

Mary and Tom:
Go to sleep, slumber deep.
Little ones we'll watch you while you sleep.
Dream and rest, that is best.
'Till you hear the morning song from bough and nest.

Mary: Tom Tom dear, I adore,
Dearest one I could not love you more.
Hold me tight, through the night.
In your arms I'm safe until the morning light.

BoPeep's Solo

BoPeep:
My lambs are lost for good.
There goes our livelihood.
I'm sure those dear sweet fleecy things
Would come home if they could.

But they are gone you see,
Gone far away from me.
Now I must weep because my sheep,
I'll never get to see.

Dear friends and family and my neighbors too,
Have my lost lambs been seen by you?
I'd hoped to sell them here in the square.
If you should see them, please tell me where.

Mother Goose and Girls:
Never mind BoPeep, we will find your sheep,
We will help you wait and see.
Please don't cry BoPeep, for your wandering sheep,
Though far from home they may be.
Try to smile BoPeep, for a while BoPeep
And try not to be blue.
Never mind BoPeep we will find your sheep.
And bring them home to you.

He Won't Be Happy Till He Gets It
Barnaby:
Oh, Jane and Alan's father left them riches by the ton.
And I am sure I need that money more than either one.
Yes, I will do whatever I must do to make it mine.
Because the thought of me as wealthy is a thought divine.

(Chorus)
And I won't be happy till I get it.
Just think of all the things that I could buy.
A house up on a hill, it gives me such a thrill,
And I'm going to get it by and by.
Villains:
And he won't be happy till he gets it.
Just think of all the things that he could buy.
A house up on a hill, it gives him such a thrill,
And he's going to get it by and by.
Barnaby:
Oh, I want Mistress Mary to consent to be my wife.
For then that beauty will be forced to serve me all my life.
Yes, I will do whatever I must do to make her mine,
Because the thought of me as married is a thought divine.

Barnaby:
Oh, that ingenious toymaker invented this machine,
And with it I could mastermind a money making scheme.
Yes, I will do whatever I must do to make it mine,
Because the thought of me as wealthy is a thought divine.

Auditions Started!!

We had a good group of students come into auditions today. Quite a few former students, but also a good number of new students. Welcome to all. We can't wait to get started on both shows, it will be a great year. For those who have registered welcome back and invite a friend to come join us, for those who haven't registered yet make sure you don't miss out space is limited!

Monday, August 6, 2012

Important Update

Just to make registration easier. We are registering for Youtheatre as one class. We will give you the opportunity at auditions to let us know which show you would prefer along with siblings, carpools and time conflicts. Also the way the computer is set up if you want to do both classes it will only let you register for one, we will work that out at auditions also. We want you to have the best opportunity possible.
Thanks for understanding,

Registration Information 2012- 2013 Season

Spanish Fork Youtheatre 2012-2013 Season
Spanish Fork Youtheatre is offering two great opportunities for the youth in Utah County to be involved in a positive theatre experience. We will be presenting two different shows this year. Both shows will be a wonderful way for your child to develop their theatre talents. All shows will cost $40.00 a month, with a $5.00 a month discount if paid before the second class of the month. A lab fee of $40.00 per show will also be charged. This covers costume, script rental and T-shirt. To be registered for a class, you will need to pay for Sept. tuition. You may pay your lab fee at this time, but just paying the lab fee will not ensure a spot in the class. Online registration begins Mon. Aug. 6th, at www.reconline.spanishfork.org.  Auditions will be held August 22th and 29th Between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at Larsen Elementary.  Please bring your child one of these days so they can meet with instructors and be assigned a part. If they would like to audition for a singing role, please be prepared to bring a small song of their choosing.  You may participate in more than one show. Please register twice if you would like to do so.

Into the Woods:  (performing Feb. of 2013) Class will run on Wed. 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. at Larsen Elementary, Sept - Feb.  An ambivalent Cinderella? An overly hungry Little Red Ridinghood? Two handsome, but insincere,  Princes? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they go “Into the Woods” on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell. They end up swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of The Princess Bride becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. We will have a group of younger children in this show. They will have specialty numbers throughout the show. Class time for this group will be 5:15 to 6:00 p.m.

Babes in Toyland: (performing April of 2013) Class will run on Wed. 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Larsen Elementary. Sept - Apr. Tom Tom the Piper's Son is about to marry Mary Quite Contrary. On the eve of their wedding, evil miser Barnaby hires two henchmen to drown Tom and steal Mary's sheep, cared for by Little Bo Peep, thus depriving Mary and the children she lives with of their livelihood, forcing her to marry Barnaby. The sheep are stolen, but Gonzorgo and Roderigo, Barnaby's henchmen, double-cross him by selling Tom to a band of gypsies instead, leaving Tom with the opportunity to escape and make his way with Mary, Bo-Peep, and other Mother Goose characters to Toyland where the toymaker helps them solve their problem.  There are a large number of speaking and solo parts for all ages in this play.
Come and join us and bring a friend!
