Music Tales from the Arabian Nights

Allah!

Allah! Allah! Allaaaaaaah! Allah!
Help us! Lead us!
From the darkness out into your light Allah!
Tell us! Show us!
Shadows separating wrong and right Allah!
Only you can! Save us from disaster with your might.
 Allah! We are! Waiting!
For salvation. Please give us a sight Allah!

Best of the Worst

At terrorizing we are the best.
Creating fear is our only quest.
At causing panic we come in first, 'cause we're the best of the worst.
We steal ducats, we steal gold.
We beat and bully both young and old,
we rob you blind while you cry and curse,
'cause we are the best of the worst.
You could say we're trouble, you might dare call us scum,
but we work hard to do our job,
so never call us bums.
Don't whine or beg when we come your way.
We won't show mercy until you pay.
Just take your lumps and then give us your purse,
'Cause we're the best of the worst,
we are the best of the worst. We are the best of the worst!

Dawning of the Sun

Sung counterpoint

Scheherazade: With the dawning of the sun, the rest of my life has begun. I cannot long deny, this evil sword my life. Shahriar please let me live and end your world of strife. With the dawning of the sun. Days dawn nights fall, still that voice it calls, calling out to me. Nights fall, days dawn, still that voice it lingers on, calling out my name. In his soul a gaping hole grows deeper, longer wider, stronger, calling out to him and only I can save him. In his soul this gaping hole is gaining power, getting stronger, calling out to me, to me, to me, to me. How can I resist it's force? How can I be strong? Only I can save him now, Scheherazade. With the dawning of the sun.

Shahriar: With the dawning of the sun. My duties have once more begun. I cannot long deny this evil sword her life. Scheherazade. In my soul a gapping hole grows deeper, longer, wider, stronger, calling out to me; it's haunting ever taunting. In my soul a gaping hole is gaining power getting stronger still, stronger still. Days dawn, nights fall, still that voice it calls, calling out to me. Nights fall, days dawn, still that voice it linger on, calling out to me, to me, to me, to me. How can I resist it's force? How can I be stronger still. Day Dawn, nights fall, Scheherazade, Scheherazade.

Scheherazade

Scheherazade, Scheherazade,
the scimitar is watching every move you make,
Scheherazade, Scheherazade,
the Scimitar is waiting just for you to break.
Scheherazade, beware,
Scheherazade, lookout,
Scheherazade, you're treading on thin ice.
Scheherazade, you can't afford to end of these tales,
or you will have to pay the price with a slice!
Scheherazade, Scheherazade,
Your life is barely hanging by a single thread.
Scheherazade, Scheherazade,
the Scimitar is hovering above your head.
Scheherazade, be wary, concerned about your health.
We wonder just how long you'll be alive.
Scheherazade, you know your time is running out,
you must continue talking just to survive--
you need to tell these stories to survive!

Every Tomorrow

I want to climb the highest mountain.
I want to learn to sail the seas.
I want to build a pair of wings and float upon a gentle breeze.
I want to see the deepest jungle,
I want to tame a mighty steed.
I want to break away from this and do just what I please!
'Cause there's so much to see.
And there's so much to do.
And for once in my life someone else feels it too.
So I wanna be with you ev'ry tomorrow
Mother: Look he is gone. I cannot find him anywhere. He is in trouble when I get my hands on him.
Sultan: Where could she be she is gone .I cannot find her anywhere. Ooo, she will be in such trouble when I get my hands on her.
Magician: I want the earth. To yield up all it's wealth to me.
I want the sky and all beneath it to bow to me. I want the pow'r around me to churn. I want the fire within me to burn,
I want control of ev'ry one and ev'rything for ev'ry tomorrow.
Chorus:
I want to climb the highest mountain.
I want to learn to sail the seas.
I want to build a pair of wings and float upon a gentle breeze. I want to see the deepest jungle,
I want to tame a mighty steed.
I want to break away from this and do just what I please!
'Cause there's so much to see.
And there's so much to do.
And for once in my life someone else feels it too.
So I wanna be with you ev'ry tomorrow
Tomorrow.

Imp, Goblin, Demon

Imp: An imp...

Goblin: A goblin....

Demon:... A Demon....

Scheherazade: And humans could neither see nor hear them..

Goblin: Oh look what we have, visitor…

Imp: Who's all dressed up like an emperor!

Demon: I hate to be rude, but he did intrude…

Goblin: Go ahead, kick him in the posterior!! (Demon gives Shukat a swift kick)

Shukat: Ouch! Who did that?

Demon: So what shall we do with this being?

Goblin: He certainly has trouble seeing!

Imp: Let's make him a mouse!

Goblin: … No a worm!!

Imp:… No a louse!

Demon: We must stop at once disagreeing! (Imp tweaks Shukat's nose)

Shukat: Ouch! What large insects they have, and yet they're so small you can't even see them. (Another tweak) Ouch!

Demon: I say we make him a tiger cat, and let him protect our habitat!

Goblin: Then he can eat those who, like him, impose.

Imp: What a grand inspiration is that!

Demon, Goblin and Imp: Yes!

Scheherazade: So the mischievous spirits concocted a potion which transforms Shukat from a human into a tiger.

Messengers: We've got to stop for a rest..

Shukat's voice: Rooooar!

Messengers: How strange. There are no tigers in this part of the world. (Enter Shukat as a tiger)

Shukat/tiger: Rooooar! (Demon, Goblin, and Imp appear)

Messengers: There aren't supposed to be, anyway.

Shukat/tiger: Rooooar!

Messengers: Ahhhh! (Shukat chase messenger's off stage)

Imp: Good-bye …

Goblin: Good-bye …

Demon: Good-bye …

Imp, Goblin and Demon: (in harmony) Good-bye!

Goblin: Oh, Look what we have another one..

Imp: She'd be tasty topped with cinnamon!!

Demon: Let's cook her with spice, and serve with wild rice!

Imp: Call the cat and we'll all have some fun! (Enter Shukat/tiger)

Ming: I must refresh myself… (she atomizes herself with perfume)

Demon: Kittykat, see who's on our shore!

Goblin: It's enough to make your heart sore.

Imp: Now you attack her, claw her and hack her!

Goblin: And start off with a giant, loud…

Shukat/tiger:… Roooooar!!

Ming: Oh, dear. You're looking at me like I'm your dinner. (Shukat is about to lunge when he sniffs her perfume) You like my perfume?

Demon: What's up?

Goblin:… Come on!

Demon:…. Take a bite!

Goblin: There's no need for being polite!

Ming: Would you like to eat something I brought? A date perhaps? (She gives him a date he eats) That's a good tiger. They're very good for your coat.

Demon: What now?

Imp:…. She's playing a trick!

Goblin: Not dates, Shukat, you'll get sick!

Shukat/tiger: (at spirits) Rooooar!

Goblin: Alright, go ahead, although you're well fed…

Demon: And the Princess lives on…

Imp: Fiddlestick!!

Demon: I knew that this moment would come, I could smell it, fee-fi-foe-fum!

Goblin: Soon he'll be starving…

Imp: His teeth will be carving…

Demon: And the Princess will be just a crumb!

Shukat/tiger: Roooooar!

Ming: Is this the end? (Pause)

Ming: I don't think you're really a man eating tiger…

Demon: This spell is too strong to corrupt!

Imp: His dinner you can't interrupt.

Goblin: Though you are his friend…

Imp: You just reached your end!

Demon: Do it now, Shukat, be abrupt.

Shariar: And just at that moment…

Shukat/tiger: Roooooar!!!! (Ming kisses Shukat/tiger)

Imp: What is he doing?

Goblin:… He's going astray!

Demon: Dear Shukat, you can't disobey.

Shukat/tiger: (turning on spirits) Roooooar!!!!

Goblin: It's time, I fear…

Demon: To get out of here…

Imp: We'll be lunch if we don't get away!

Shukat/tiger: ROOOOAR!!!! (Evil spirits are chased away)

Shahriar: And he chased them so far that they never returned to bother anyone ever again. And with their spell broken, Shukat once more became the Prince of Damascus.

Shivaree

Once Upon a Time in Arabia,
there lived a Sultan Shahriar.
His kingdom was the most utopia
until he met the Scimitar.
Then Shahriar fell under its spell.
He was changed from good to bad.
It made him bid his wife's farewell--
until he met Scheherazade.
When Scheherazade turned the Sultan 'round
with all of her amazing tales,
she manage then to get him un-spellbound,
thank goodness, goodness does prevail.
When Shahriar saw his mistake,
the blade was melted and recast,
and he no longer lives did take--
the Scimitar was gone at last!
Now the Scimitar's just an instrument,
and Arabia's full of song,
And maybe the solution's heaven sent--
the Sultan has renounced all wrong!
And all because one girl was wise,
and fought for what she thought was right,
Scheherazade immortalized

The Jungle Book Kids & Broadway Review

The jungle is jumpin' with a jazzy beat in Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin' musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

We are excited to add a Broadway Review to this class. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to give more solos and dancing experiences. We will spotlight different ages groups as well as the entire class with some of our Favorite fun filled musical numbers. You are going to Love it!
