Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Parts Available

Character Breakdown

Narrators:
Sopranos, Second Sopranos, and Alto's with extended mix/belt range. Vibrant, energetic, charming performers, with superior voices. Movement and dance will be needed. The narrators must be adept at both being the focal pint and then “blending” into the scene. The narrators are onstage almost the entire show. Must be an animated storyteller.

Joseph:
Jacob's favorite son. Joseph early on shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. Singer/actor. Honest and likable with good intent. Humble but proud and able to transition to the leader of a nation. Must believe in himself and his convictions. Vocal range high tenor.

Jacob:
The father of 12 sons, his favorite being Joseph. At times he may appear unfair and shallow, but he is, more importantly, the prophet who recognizes the future and calling of Joseph, thus saving the House of Israel.

Joseph's 11 brothers, Jacob's other sons:
High energy and very active. Singers/dancers/actors. Need to be able to develop strong unique characters. Able to portray wide range of performance styles. Although acting usually as a group, they each have their own different personalities, talents and flaws. They sing and dance their way through many situations and paces. Conniving, self-centered and jealous of Joseph. They change their ways in the end.

Reuben: Eldest on of Jacob: Sings “those Canaan Days” Needs good comic timing.

Simeon: Second Son

Levi: Third Son

Naphthali: Sixth Son

Isaachar: Ninth Son

Asher: Eighth Son

Dan: Fifth Son, sings “One More Angel in Heaven” in a country western style.

Zebulon: Tenth Son

Gad: Seventh Son

Benjamin: Twelfth Son

Judah: Fourth Son, Sings “Benjamin's Calypso” in a reggae style

Pharaoh: The most powerful man in Egypt, Pharaoh is considered a God on earth. Should be an outgoing, engaging entertainer, able to take the stage and connect with an audience. Singer/Actor with a good comic timing. Done in an “Elvis Presley” style.

Potiphar: A powerful and rich Egyptian and Joseph's employer.

Potiphar's Wife: Beautiful and scheming, dancer.
